Cape Point is not easily described in words - pictures barely do this breathtaking place justice. With its diverse vegetation, mischievous, not-so-timid baboons and dramatic cliffs, Cape Point looks more like a movie set than real life!
Being the most extreme southwestern point of the entire continent of Africa, Cape Point attracts both local South Africans and tourists from all over the globe. Baboons, African penguins, an array of lizards, snakes and tortoises, rock hyrax (locally referred to as dassies), deer, Humpback whales and mongoose are just some of the animals that call the Point and the surrounding waters home.
Coming from the States, this landscape immediately reminded me of bits and pieces of California - particularly Big Sur, California. Sharing a Mediterranean climate, both Cape Town and the coast of California seem to overlap in terms of vegetation.
